'There Is No Planet B' Stafford Green Arts Festival
'There is No Planet B' Stafford Green Arts Festival, is a local Stafford-based group promoting care for the planet with an exhibition and competition for anyone to enter. If you are a budding amateur artist, a professional, a community art group or a school you can exhibit your artwork or poem with an environmental theme and positive environmental message during the festival.
'There is No Planet B' Stafford Green Arts Festival runs in February schools half term, when we invite the public to come to St. Chad's Church and enjoy the artwork and poems on display.
School Workshops
'There is No Planet B' Stafford Green Arts Festival also provides school workshop materials to aid in providing awareness of issues of an environmental nature. These are available to schools on request.
Some of our volunteers go into schools before the Festival to run workshops with different themed topics, for example:
· pollination/pollinators - how they help our food to be grown and how important they are and need protecting
· plastic pollution - how that impacts on wildlife and our environment as well as our carbon footprint
· sustainable fashion - how the clothing industry impacts our environment and how we can be more conscious when we shop for our wardrobe
The volunteers chat to the children, who with the support of teachers and the volunteers produce artwork and displays with brilliant positive messages, poems, or collages.
The artwork can be displayed by the school at the festival in St Chad's Church. The spaces for the art displays are approximately 6 foot depending on demand and schools should advise if they would require a table for their presentation.
St Chad’s Church
During February half term St Chad's Church is normally open every day except Sunday for visitors to view the artwork submitted by schools, adults, and community groups. On the first Saturday musicians perform their songs, with performances containing positive messages about looking after our planet.
On weekdays volunteers stage art and craft activities in the church for children with their families and parents. Activities in the past have included wild flower seed bomb making, creating collages from magazines and recycled materials, making pollinator sculptures with recycled materials, and willow weaving.
